CORONATION Street star Jennie McAlpine is visiting Hull to thank Mobalpa Kitchens and Hull company NU Architects for supporting a charity that helps sufferers of depression.
The actress, better known by her on-screen name Fiz Stape, will be attending Mobalpa Kitchens' open day at its showroom in Anlaby. Tom McAlpine, Jennie's father, is chairman of the charity Moodswings and has recently been awarded an OBE for his work.
Mobalpa and Hull company NU Architects are long-standing supporters of Moodswings' work, which helps people suffering from depression and anxiety and the two companies have donated almost £20,000 of services to the charity.
Ms McAlpine said: "On behalf of Moodswings, I would like to say a personal thank you for their kind donations towards the exciting refurbishment of the charity's new headquarters. We can't thank them enough."
Paul Lyell, managing director at Mobalpa Kitchens' showroom in Anlaby, has personal reasons for supporting Moodswings. He said: "I am supporting Moodswings because I suffer from depression myself. The charity does such great work to help people in my position so it's fantastic to be able to support it. If you don't reach out and let people know they can get the help they need, you never know what will happen,"
Mobalpa provided a £6,000 kitchen refurbishment to the charity's base in Manchester whilst Nuala Roarty, director at NU Architects (who cites losing a close friend to depression as motivation for her support), has donated more than £10,000 in the past 12 months to help develop the charity's new site and is now looking to expand her business to help other charities.
"The past year has been such a proud journey for me and I hope I can continue to support their work and indeed other charities." said Roarty.
The Corrie star will be signing autographs and photographs at the open day on Saturday, July 28, from 1pm.
Mobalpa has 500 sales outlets worldwide and years of experience behind it and over the years it has developed into a brand name of excellence that provides its partners with the conditions for success in delivering some truly beautiful kitchens. (see website)
