Kitchen manufacturer Burbidge has been awarded the Manufacturing Guild Mark – MGM – which according to the company is “widely regarded as the most prestigious accolade in the furniture-making industry”.
The company underwent a week-long inspection before receiving the award and according to Burbidge, it was awarded the prestigeous mark due to its “unrivalled manufacturing capabilities and commitment to producing innovation kitchen designs”.
“We are tremendously proud to receive this highly coveted accolade,” said Burbidge managing director Ben Burbidge. “As a business, we pride ourselves on always going the extra mile to ensure the highest possible level of manufacturing excellence. From scouring the globe to source the most luxurious timbers through to continuing to invest in the latest manufacturing technologies, we take great effort in ensuring we deliver the most beautiful and innovative premium kitchen designs on the market.”
MGM Committee chairman Paul von der Heyde added: “It is a pleasure to award Burbidge with the MGM mark. Burbidge is a prime example of a British manufacturing business which continues to innovate, inspire and retain the very highest standards. We look forward to working with the company more and more in the future.”
Established in 1867 by the Great, Great, Grandfather of the current Managing Director Ben Burbidge, Burbidge & Son Ltd boasts a rich legacy in woodworking. Following a period of growth from the 1970's onwards Burbidge began to develop its own kitchen product range and soon the company name became synonymous with both excellent product design and an uncompromising stance on quality.
Fast forward to today and although Burbidge has its own (in-house) 1500m2 showroom at their Head office in Coventry with many of their kitchen ranges in realistic room sets, featuring the latest design concepts and many exciting innovative designs suggestions it is the widely regarded relationship with its dealer network that has largely been attributed to its continued success. Whilst other kitchen manufacturers have not fared so well with the last recession seeing theirng to retailers falling out with manufacturers amid allegations of under cutting and selling direct to consumers, Burbidge has been lauded as a shrewd supporter of its retailers.
