Howden Joinery Group, the joinery and kitchen cabinet maker, which has a factory in Runcorn, has reported revenues of more than £850m.
The reported revenue of £853.8m for the year to 31 December 2011, which was up from £807.9m in 2010 and on that revenue, a pre-tax profit increases from £100.9m in 2010 to £110m for 2011.
Howden’s Chief executive Matthew Ingle said this is because of an increase in the number of customer accounts and a rise in mid- and higher-priced kitchen sales, which is somewhat reflective of the current trend for home owners to stay put and spend bigger in their homes, in response to the stagnant property market.
Mr Ingle said: "Howdens has delivered another good set of results in 2011. We have achieved this in demanding market conditions by our relentless focus on the core strengths of our business model.
"We have had the confidence to invest in our business operations to deliver this performance and we have continued to pursue the growth opportunities that we see before us."
The business reportedly also started work a new kitchen cabinet production line at its Runcorn site as part of a £20m investment into its manufacturing base with the first phase of this investment due to be completed by the end of Q2/2012.
The company is also recommending the payment of a dividend for the first time in four years and Ingle said this is "reflecting the robust financial position of the group and our confidence in Howdens' successful future".
Howden Joinery has said it expects market conditions to continue to be challenging and remains "cautious" about the immediate outlook.
