News has emerged that Bosch and Neff products will be available to purchase in all Homebase stores from 19th August.
Homebase, the British home improvement retailer owned by restructuring firm Hilco, has announced that a new partnership with Bosch and Neff appliances will see their appliances available in all stores and online, from the 19th August.
In a recent statement, Homebase explained that the partnership aims to give consumers the opportunity to choose and purchase everything they need for their ‘dream kitchen’ in one store.
Given Homebases failure to make a success of selling Nobilia kitchens, (rebranded to Noblessa) it is difficult to see how selling appliances will give Homebase any advantage over its competition when selling appliances as part of a larger kitchen project.
Consumers tend to go to the most appropriate kitchen designer and retailer according to their budget and the credibility of the retailers within that price point, versus choosing a kitchen retailer based upon which appliance brands they offer.
With kitchen appliances being so readily available from Currys to AO and via independent kitchen retailers, the move to sell Bosch and Neff seems somewhat misjudged.
Homebase couldnt compete on like for like terms of cost or quality of service when it came to going up against the independent Nobilia retailers and its doubtful that they can compete on price with Currys and AO (Appliances Online), both of whom also sell Bosch and Neff appliances.
Ian Penney, Business Director for Homebase Room Solutions, said: ‘The kitchen is the hub of the home and we know our customers are looking for inspiration for how they can make their busy lives easier.
‘Embarking on a kitchen renovation can be daunting, but we’re here to take the pain out of the journey. Our knowledgeable in-store experts are on hand to turn dream designs and all those Pinterest ideas into reality.
‘A kitchen isn’t just units and worktops, the appliances, paint, flooring and tiling, accessories are just as important – and we have something for every taste. We’re really pleased to be partnering with Bosch and NEFF, to help bring our customers even more innovative and quality products.”
