You cant deny the apparent success of the heavyweight German kitchen brands such as Nobilia, Schuller and Hacker.
They have lead the market for decades and although in the UK, the 2008 Credit Crunch saw very slow growth and stagnation right up to Covid in 2020 and the fallout from this offering more market challenges Nobilia, Schuller and Hacker continue and do so without the [insolvency] headlines that other German kitchen brands such as Poggenpohl, Warendorf, Alno, Rational and Bax have endured in the last two to three years.
Top German Kitchen Brands from 2013
in 2013 the top German kitchen brands by revenue, where:
- Nobilia with €923.4m in revenue
- Alno Group with €395.1m in revenue
- Hacker with with €391m in revenue
- Nolte with €314.6m in revenue
- Schuller with €330m in revenue
- Bauformat with €201m in revenue
- Bulthaup with €130m in revenue
- Siematic with €100m in revenue
- Leicht with €96m in revenue
- Poggenpohl with €90m in revenue
In the UK, most homeowners and those with an active interest in the German kitchen market would be aware of almost all the names in the Top 10.
Top German Kitchen Brands for 2023
For 2023 the landscape for the top German kitchen brands saw some changes and as ranked by their 2022 revenues, they are:
- Nobilia with €1.482bn in revenue
- Hacker with €786m in revenue
- Schuller with €753m in revenue
- Nolte with €717m in revenue
- Baumann Group (inc Bauformat) with €303m in revenue
- Bulthaup with €190m in revenue
- Leicht with €180m
- Siematic with €175m in revenue
- Poggenpohl with €74m in revenue for 2019
- Alno Group (no longer trading)
Notable changes at the top of the list from 2013 to 2023 see Hacker kitchens, Schuller and Nolte increase their revenues by doubling them and Nobilia increase theirs by 60% over the last decade. Alno saw it lose its 2nd place ranking in 2013 until its collapse in 2021.
Bulthaup saw impressive revenue gains of 45%, Siematic 75% and Leicht 87.5%, which resulted Leicht overtaking Siematic.
Poggenpohl like Alno, bucked the upward trend set by the rest in the group in seeing its revenues decline since 2013, despite the company saying Covid was responsible for Poggenpohl's troubles.

Given that all but two German kitchen brands on that list saw growth over the last decade should answer any question people have as to the continued relevance of German kitchens in todays competitive and challenging market.
