Cosentino expands Silestone low silica portfolio

Cosentino expands Silestone low silica portfolio with the launch of its Le Chic Bohème collection as Cosentino responds to silicosis concerns which have been highlighted in the news this year.

With 2024's ongoing story starting with Australia’s ruling that it would ban high-silica products from its market from July of this year, in an effort to curb what some critics have described as a "silicosis epidemic”, the market has been responding to consumer concerns, even though the concerns are misplaced, as silicosis as a result of high-silica products can only be achieved in the manufacturing and cutting stages and not when in situ in a consumers house.

Nevertheless, Cosentino have released the 'Le Chic Bohème collection' with four new low silica colours – Jardin Emerald, Rivière Rose, Château Brown & Blanc Élysèe as Cosentino expands on its initial collection launched in 2023.

A press release said "Cosentino, the global leader in producing sustainable surfaces for architecture and design, introduces Silestone® once again at the intersection of sophistication and innovation in interior design with the launch of Le Chic Bohème by Silestone®XM"

“Cosentino continues to push the boundaries of developing sustainable surfacing that is durable, alluring, and unique,” says Eduardo Cosentino, CEO of Cosentino Americas and EVP of Global Sales. “Le Chic Bohème by Silestone®XM and Ukiyo Silestone® embody all of these qualities and more. With the depth of intricate veining and versatile yet impactful range of colors and now fluting options, the new products enable designers to bring more sustainable designs to their residential and commercial projects, with a modern, luxurious feel.”

Le Chic Bohème is manufactured using 99% reused water and 100% renewable energy, incorporates a minimum of 20% recycled raw materials in its composition and contains less than 10% of crystalline silica belonging to the category introduced this year, SilestoneXM.
