According to recent press DIY chain B&Q is on track to be named ‘lowest priced national DIY retailer of kitchens’ for the second year in a row by comparison site Kitchen-Compare.com.
It may not be news to UK homeowners as the DIY chain B&Q has been retailing very cheap kitchens for years and whilst they are not going to be on a par with some of the more quality focused kitchen retailers, there will always be a market for the price sensitive kitchen shopper.
Kitchen-Compare.com which tracks and compares prices, quality, installation services and finance deals of the UK’s largest kitchen retailers – first awarded B&Q the accolade in 2017.
B&Q will discover if it has won in 2018 in December and according to B&Q, it offers “four times as many lowest priced kitchens as its nearest competitor”, and it also has a “high quality score of 8.8 out of 10, according to the expert panel”.
“B&Q continues to consistently offer the lowest priced kitchens and is currently storming ahead of the competition, including Homebase, Wickes and Ikea, for the lowest priced kitchens in our comparison data,” said Kitchen-Compare.com managing director Steve Collinge.
“Every day we monitor the activity of each of the UK's leading kitchen retailers and track the individual component prices of comparable kitchen styles and, if the current trend continues, it looks like B&Q will scoop the accolade again for 2018.”
B&Q kitchens category director Mandy Winser added: “We’re proud to consistently offer the lowest priced kitchens to customers. Our mission is to help people create good homes and to do that we need to make home improvement projects affordable all year round. Our 2,000 price drops across store, alongside our stable low prices in our kitchens category, help do just that.”
Given that in July the well known UK home improvement retailer said (via its owners Kingfisher) that it was investing more than £100m to deliver its ‘Do It For Less’ pricing strategy, specifically designed to make home improvement more affordable for all customers, news of the accolade will do that campaign justice.
